This limited edition cel was inspired by the 1948 Merrie Melodies cartoon, "Hare Splitter," directed by Academy Award-winner Friz Freleng. This image, created by noted Warner Bros. animator Virgil Ross, captures the amorous Bugs on bended knee, asking for Daisy Lou's hand in marriage.
This limited edition cel began with a drawing by noted Warner Bros. animator Virgil Ross. The master character line was then hand-inked onto an acetate sheet (or "cel"). The Warner Bros. Masters Collection/Virgil Ross seal was silkscreened onto the front of the cel. Each cel was then expertly hand-painted on the reverse side. The original background was reproduced using the lithography process on acid-free paper. In the final step of production, the edition number was hand-inked on each cel in an edition size of 500. Finally, Mr. Ross approved each cel with his signature.
