This limited edition cel was inspired by the three-part episode of The Adventures of Superman of the same name, in which The Caped Crusader joins forces with The Man of Steel in order to do battle with the Diabolical Duo of Lex Luthor and his evil partner The Joker, for control of Metropolis.
This limited edition cel was created to capture the dramatic first-ever pairing of the stars of The Adventures of Superman and Batman: The Animated Series. Created by Producer/Creator Bruce Timm in 1997 at the famed Warner Bros. animation studio, the original drawing was hand-inked and the master ink line and the Warner Bros. seal of authenticity were transferred to a clear acetate sheet (or "cel") utilizing the serigraph screen printing process. These lines were augmented with "self color" lines, which were hand-inked on the front of the cel to help create the trade-mark shadows on the characters. In traditional animation style, the cels were then expertly hand-painted on the reverse side. The stylized, mood-setting background was reproduced using the lithography process. Each cel was then numbered by hand in an edition of 500, and in the final step of production, Mr Timm approved each cel with his signature.
