In recent months, collectors have been rattled by a new and unexpected development: a wave of fake Virgil Ross originals entering the market through a large, well-known international auction website. These items, originating from sellers in Peru, have been packaged to look uncannily authentic—down to forged gallery stamps and artificially stained paper edges meant to imitate decades of natural aging.
